Was stabbed to death, allegedly by IFP supporters, in Mshenguville squatter camp, Soweto, Johannesburg, on 1 September 1991. Violent political conflict in the area caused polarisation between residents of townships, hostels and squatter camps which increasingly overlapped political affiliation and ethnic identity.
