She lost her house in a petrol bomb attack by ANC supporters in Ratanda, near Heidelberg, Tvl, on 24 July 1992 during conflict between rival unions. A labour dispute between striking COSATU-aligned FAWU workers and non-striking IFP-aligned UWUSA workers caused violent conflict in this township from July to December 1992.
