Description Was arrested with ten other friends in Carnarvon, Cape, on 16 June 1986, for wearing black ties commemorating those who died in the Soweto uprising. He was repeatedly beaten by named members of the SAP at the police station and detained for seventy two days under emergency regulations at Carnarvon and then at Victor Verster prison, Paarl, Cape.
