An ANC supporter who had her house burnt down by Inkatha supporters in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu, near Durban on 18 October 1989. Ms Ziqubu’s husband was killed that same day, allegedly because he had been seen transporting UDF supporters to hospital. About 1000 homes were badly damaged or destroyed in political violence in Mpumalanga during 1989, leaving many dead and thousands homeless.
