His house at Impendle, near Bulwer, Natal, was burnt down by a named IFP supporter in mid-1992, because he was perceived to be an ANC supporter. At the time, IFP leaders were allegedly coercing community members to join the party or to leave the area. Those who refused had their homes burnt down.
