Was shot and injured by members of the SAP during a police raid in Mpophomeni, KwaZulu, near Howick, Natal, on 10 September 1989. He laid charges against the police and was paid a small sum in compensation for his injuries. His brother had been killed two weeks earlier by Inkatha supporters, with the assistance of members of the SAP.
