Was shot and injured in Wesselton, Ermelo, Transvaal, on 29 July 1990 by IFP-aligned Black Cat gang members in clashes during a rent boycott in the area. On that day gang members were seen walking from Ermelo to Wesselton brandishing pangas. See Black Cats.
