Was arrested on 3 September 1984 and charged with the murder of town councillor Khuzwayo Jacob Dlamini in Sharpeville, Vereeniging, Transvaal, along with five others. Known as the ‘Sharpeville Six’, they were sentenced to death but had their sentences commuted after an international campaign. Mr Khumalo was subsequently paroled.
