Description Was arrested with ten other friends on 16 June 1986 in Carnarvon, Cape, for wearing black ties commemorating those who died in the Soweto uprising. He was repeatedly beaten by named members of the SAP at the police station and detained for seventy two days under emergency regulations at Carnarvon and then at Victor Verster prison, Paarl, Cape.
